The Senior Manager, Client Engineering, is responsible for managing a team of experienced software engineers building consumer oriented Mobile applications. The key responsibility would be to manage our Android development efforts. The Senior Manager will also assume project and product delivery responsibilities. This position will report to the Director, Client Engineering.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Manage a team of 4 – 8 software engineers developing Mobile Consumer applications.

* Manage and co-ordinate with geographically distributed (offshore) engineering teams.

* Manage multiple, concurrent product development activities from concept through design, implementation and release including, review of requirements, level-of-effort scoping of requirements, task assignments, resource allocation, code reviews and bug triage.

* Facilitate and own the creation of detailed project plans and track progress versus plan. Responsible for the communication of project schedules and status across all levels of the organization.

* Co-ordinate with cross-functional teams including, Product Management, QA, and Release Engineering, to resolve project dependencies and achieve project objectives.

* Co-ordinate the resolution of product defects reported by customers by working with the Customer Support and Account Management teams.

* Serve as the engineering liaison with external partners and manage multi-party (Operator, OEM, Partner, Vendor) relationships as part of product implementation and delivery.

* Lead the recruiting of top-notch talent into the team and facilitate the growth of the Engineering organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications & Skills:

* 5 years of engineering management experience with 10+ years of overall software engineering experience. BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related fields is required. MS degree preferred.

* Very high technical competence, track record of strong coding and individual technical accomplishments. Familiarity with Wireless technologies a definite plus.

* Strong project management skills and experience using project management tools.

* Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple, concurrent and complex engineering projects.

* A decisive leader with sound technical and business judgment who can make product cost/value trade-offs with the facts at hand.

* Strong commitment to total customer satisfaction and the ability to manage customer expectations.

* Proven ability to manage personnel issues and conflicts, mentor team members at various professional levels, and inspire team by personal example.

* Commitment to excellence and drive to achieve the highest quality standards personally and for the team.

* Demonstrates expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.

* Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Communicates effectively across organizational boundaries and demonstrates initiative to build relationships across teams.

* Experience with J2EE and open source Java technologies

* Experience with developing large-scale software products that serve millions of users

* Experience with different flavors of Linux/Unix platforms

* Experience with developing software products that serve international markets
